hello guys i am looking for any one who has knowledge of the history of this Totem, i know that it originates from Swaziland through the HLATSHWAYO line but i am trying to bridge the gap....
ReplyDeleteYes Ngaras ancestor originated from Swaziland. Came with wagons were working for whites. Infact they were 2 brothers thats what I heard. Settled in chibi at first- Bhati area and were later driven to Gokomere. Settled there. Married king s daughter ,settled in area stretching feom gokomere to zimuto. Zimuto was a name given to the ancestor after his cattle were run by the wagon on railway line. He was angry and called the commissioner and said to him come and take Mazimuto acho meaning soup. Thats where the name zimuto came from. There is only one Ngara in zimbabwe and came from the same father. Were disenfranchised by the ndebele war and some were captured and went to matebeleland. The maposas in matebeleland and those in masvingo are the same people. They are related. No any other maposa. Initially it was nkala but makaranga could mot say la and end up saying ngara. .....
DeleteThere seems to be a huge confusion here Maphosa from Swaziland(those in zim too) and maposa( ngara)are two different people and families the name ( Maphosa) is what they have in common
