In this post I am going to explain the process of getting connected to Telone Internet services be it ADSL or Fibre.
First thing to do is check for the nearest Telone pole in your area, the one that is nearest to your house.In many suburbs the Poles and lines are usually located outside the yards or between yards.In CBD usually they are DP boxes placed at the back on certain places of the building.
Once you are satisfied that the lines are available, visit your nearest Telone Service Center.They will confirm to check if really service is available in your area and ask you to fill in a form and submit it.They will let you know when you will be required to pay the installation fee of USD$23 which usually will be in 2 days time.
Once you have paid the installation fee, Telone will call you and let you know that you will be connected within 7days or exactly when the Telone Technician will come to get you connected.
While you wait for the Telone people make sure you know the exact place you want the line socket to be placed in your home.The place must be very close to a power outlet ,which is UK type (Square plug) as the modems come with this type of plug.During this time make sure you buy the ADSL modem it costs between USD$20-30. The preference of Telone is the TP Link - TD W8961N.
On Installation day Telone will come with their crew.They will secure the outdoor black drop copper wire from the pole to your home roof.From your roof a twisted pair cable is connected from the black drop wire to the exact position you want in your home, with a wall socket placed there, where you will connect the adsl line and telephone line .
While this is all happening , one technician will be finding available point to connect the new installation on the DP box, he will also have to go to exchange center for more configuration.As he returns the others have completed the home side installation.He will come and complete the wiring on the DP Box on the pole or building.
Once all this is done, they will require you to provide the ADSL modem so they input the configuration details which are just your phone number and password from Telone, some PPPOe settings and your desired WiFi name and Password.This configuration on the modem takes only less than 5 minutes.
Now you are ready to get internet, they will give you your new phone number and you can start buying your desired bundle.At this point good bye to Telone crew.
Its time to buy your desired bundle, available on banking apps, paynow top, Telone online shop, Telone USSD*216#, OK, TM ,Spar etc.Once you have your voucher enter it on the ussd *216# or Telone online shop to recharge.Once completed switch of the modem and on again to reboot, you should be having internet connection now.If nothing is happening, get in touch with Telone customer service to activate on their end.
You now have internet,how will you check for usage, you can use the *216#, you can use the Telone app and Telone online store.They are simple to sign up with just your phone number and a few details .
Also remember that your modem comes with a splitter in the box to enable you to connect the modem and phone together and use a landline.Simple buy a handset and use it, purchase the voice voucher same way as the internet ones any talk.
