Folktale: Sugar & Salt

Once upon a time there was one ant named Sam that lived placidly on a mountain of sugar, while another named Brenda lived on a mountain of salt.

Sam was happy because he had very sweet food all the time. On the other hand however, Brenda was always terribly thirsty after eating because of the salt.

One day, the sugar pile came closer to the salt. "Hello, friend! I'm your neighbor, I live on that sugar mountain," he said, pointing to the aforementioned pile.

"Sugar? And what is that? », asked his female companion.

"Have you ever tasted sugar? You're gonna love this! "If you want, come see me tomorrow and I'll let you try it." "Sounds like a fantastic idea to me!" », Brenda replied, intrigued.

The next day, Brenda decided to accept the neighbor's invitation. But before she left she put a little salt in her mouth just in case she didn't like sugar.

Upon arriving, she tasted the sugar, but because there was salt in her mouth, the sugar tasted like salt.

"Wow, that's curious!" », she said. "Turns out your sugar tastes just like my salt,"

"Let's see, open your mouth," the other stranger urged. So, the ant realized his friend had salt in her mouth.

"Of course! I get it Now! Go ahead, spit the salt and try again... ". The other ant obeyed and this time yes, sugar got sugar.

"Delicious," she said. Since then, she stayed living with her new friend.

This story teaches us that if you don't get rid of what you're holding on to that doesn't make you happy you won't be able to enjoy the new and give yourself a chance to improve.
