Intelezi
Intelezi is an African plant that most Zulu communities use to cleanse themselves and rid themselves of evil spirits in their homes or places of businesses. For an example, after the death of a family member the Zulu people strongly believe in cleansing themselves within three months. The family slaughter a goat and mix its dung with intelezi and a little bit of water.
The family members will then go and wash their bodies outside of the yard. They will wash their bodies with the mixture (at night) and then return home and not take a bath until the next morning. This ritual is performed outside of the yard because it is believed that when cleansing your body the evil spirit must be removed and left out of the premises. The plant is also used to get rid of bad spirits from the yard, the plant will be ground and mixed with water and then sprinkled all over the yard at night. This particular plant was also used during wars to boost the spirits of the warriors, they used to drink this plant after it was ground and mixed with water and it was believed that the warriors will then fear nothing that comes their way.

Intelezi ibuye isetshenziselwe ukuxosha imimoya emibi ekhaya. Uyihlanganisa namanzi kuthi uma sekuhwalele uchele igceke lonke. Nasesikhathini sakudala intelezi yayisetshenziswa amabutho uma ezoya empini. Yayiphuzwa, kuthiwa yayenza amabutho abe nesibindi esesabekayo.
