Sandra Banana Seller (Folktale)

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl named Sandra who lived in Binga, 

she was a banana vendor and would sale them daily at Binga centre.

One day a drunk man tried to harass her as she was passing,

suddenly a young man appeared from the corner and helped her chasing away the old man.

Sandra did not stop walking and continued with her business.

The young man followed Sandra, he looked like a tourist as was carrying a tourist bag loaded with many items.

Sandra stopped and put her banana basket on the ground as

she rested. The young man offered to buy some bananas then both of them sat.

They started talking and getting to know each other as the young man introduced himself as Nathan from Cross Mabale near Hwange ,but someone was watching them.

While they had started to kiss, mermaids appeared in the dark near the river whispering, Sandra just gave a sign by lifting her hand as if she is giving a signal.

Sandra pushed Nathan on the ground as if she wanted to make love to him so he could not see the mermaids in the river.

While Nathan stood up to make love to Sandra, behind him came other men hunters who wanted to rape Sandra. One of the man was the one that had approached Sandra at Binga Centre when she was then helped by the young man.

Sandra was a brave girl, she beat up all the men that attacked her.

All the men had been defeated, but the young man Nathan was striked on the head and fainted.

Nathan managed to gain consciousness in the morning and was surprised to see Sandra as

as a mermaid. She told Nathan the truth but he was sad as he knew he may never see her again, as he had love for her.

Nathan told Sandra how he had been lonely for a long time only leaving with his daughter as he lost his wife many years ago.

Sandra left back into the Zambezi River while Nathan remained depressed.

As Sandra dived dipper into the river she was also heart broken, she had met a man that loved her so much, she eventually started to cry. Days passed on.

For more than 3 weeks Nathan was so depressed always thinking about beautiful Sandra. One day Nathan's daughter heard a knock on the door as her father was taking a nap in the kitchen.

Nathan told his daughter to open and see who it was, to his surprise it was Sandra. He asked how did you manage to come to Cross Mabale. She explained, love can make you find a way smiling.

She told Nathan that she had come to live with him forever and ever and be his wife and mother of his daughter. They kissed with joy and lived happily ever after.
