Zimbabwe Lockdown Do's and Don'ts


Here is a list compiled by Totem Network of what residents would be allowed to do and what has been prohibited during the national lockdown which aims to curb the spread of the deadly disease.

Allowed

  • You can travel ONLY when it is necessary and after assessment by security forces.
  • You can use your private car or travel with Zupco, Public Service Commission or any government-owned transport service that will be enforcing social distancing can be used.
  • You can fill up your car at any filling station but not leave your car.
  • Formal shops are allowed to open for 4 hours a day ONLY.
  • You will be allowed to buy food ONLY on specified hours.
  • Only food stalls will be allowed to operate, none food stalls will be closed.
  • You will be able to visit the pharmacy for medicine, sanitary wear, bottled water or shops for bread, sugar, maize meal.
  • Funerals exempted but numbers should be less than 50.

Prohibited

  • Mass transport operations suspended, except for employees in essential services.
  • Millers have been DIRECTED by Command Centre to IMMEDIATELY STOP supplying maize-meal in CBD FORTHWITH. All deliveries to be made to RESIDENTIAL areas only.
  • Informal markets to be closed.
  • All public transport, except Zupco, is suspended.
  • Those who cause alarm and despondency on social media will be dealt with Legal instruments which are being put in place.

 Please stay safe during the 21-day national lockdown and make sure that you take care of yourselves to minimize chances of getting the coronavirus.  Wash hands frequently with soap and running water and please stay at home unless it is vital for you to go out.
